Possibilities

  • The program determines for a two-dimensional beam structure with chosen stiffnesses, the deformations and force distribution under the influence of node and/or member loads or prescribed displacements.

  • The force distribution is determined according to the displacement method, taking into account normal and shear force deformation.

  • Many types of supports are possible. Obviously the well-known and standard pinned support, roller support and fixed support.

  • In XBeam2d you can compose your support completely arbitrarily. Spring in the x-direction and rigidly supported in the z-direction, or moment-fixed and free in the x-direction, etc. Supports that can come free can also be entered. E.g. only a positive reaction force. If a negative reaction occurs, the 'restrain' is released and the support comes free. By using a local coordinate system you can place any support at any angle.

  • Members can be connected 'spring-like' (i.e. with extension and/or rotation springs) to nodes.

  • Depending on the chosen run option, extreme moments and deformations per member, or all characteristics (shear force, moment, rotation and deformation) can be calculated in a certain load combination.

  • You can choose a code check concrete according to Eurocode 2: EN 1992-1-1, a stress calculation steel according to Eurocode 3: EN 1993-1-1 and a stress calculation timber according to Eurocode 5: EN 1995-1-1.
