Environmental Class
In many cases several environmental classes apply. Here you can enter one or more environmental classes. XBeam2d automatically determines which environmental class is governing for determining the minimum required concrete cover.

Classes
The environmental classes according to NEN-EN 1992-1-1 table 4.1 are grouped into six categories. One or more classes can be selected per category.
1 No risk of corrosion or attack
2 Corrosion induced by carbonation
- XC1 - Dry or permanently wet
- XC2 - Wet, rarely dry
- XC3 - Moderate humidity
- XC4 - Cyclic wet and dry
3 Corrosion induced by chlorides
- XD1 - Moderate humidity
- XD2 - Wet, rarely dry
- XD3 - Cyclic wet and dry
4 Corrosion induced by chlorides from sea water
- XS1 - Exposed to airborne salt, but not in direct contact with sea water
- XS2 - Permanently under sea water
- XS3 - Tidal, splash and spray zones
5 Attack by freeze/thaw cycles
- XF1 - Not fully saturated with water, without de-icing salts
- XF2 - Not fully saturated with water, with de-icing salts
- XF3 - Saturated with water, without de-icing salts
- XF4 - Saturated with water, with de-icing salts or sea water
6 Chemical attack
- XA1 - Slightly aggressive chemical environment according to table 2 of EN 206-1
- XA2 - Moderately aggressive environment according to table 2 of EN 206-1
- XA3 - Highly aggressive environment according to table 2 of EN 206-1
Input
The environmental classes are entered on the tab Cover of the concrete profile, separately for the top side and the bottom side. See Concrete Profiles.
