Eurocode
Specifically and only for the check according to Eurocode 3: NEN-EN 1993-1-1 respectively Eurocode 5: NEN-EN 1995-1-1, data can be entered per member.

Member Group
Specifically and only for the check of the lateral torsional buckling stability, a member group can be entered. XBeam2d automatically detects which members qualify for this. Only those members that are connected moment-fixed to this member, lie in line with it and have the same profile are shown. You can tick which members these are. For this group you subsequently enter the lateral support distances and, if applicable, the buckling lengths.
See also Members.
Cantilever
Setting whether the member has to be assessed as a cantilever.
Lateral Torsional Buckling
Number of lateral supports / Distances of lateral supports
Only relevant for the check of the lateral torsional buckling stability. You can enter the lateral supports for the top flange and the bottom flange.
There are 3 possibilities:
- Number - The number of lateral supports. These are the extra (lateral supports) between the supports, distributed over the length of the member (group).
- Distances - Distances of the lateral supports measured from the beginning of the member (group). The syntax is: "distance1 distance2 numberxdistance3 ..etc". Example: 3000 3x2200 2800
- Node numbers - Selecting the node numbers that lie on the member group.
Buckling Length Y-axis and Z-axis
The check according to Eurocode 3: EN 1993-1-1 is based on a geometrically non-linear analysis. This means that buckling of the members is implicitly provided for in the distribution of forces. For each load combination the internal equilibrium is determined iteratively.
By default the buckling length about the Y-axis (strong axis) is taken equal to the member length. The buckling length about the Z-axis is taken equal to the largest lateral support distance. You can enter different values for both buckling lengths.
Note: Regardless of whether the profile is rotated with respect to the local coordinate system, the Y-axis is the strong axis and the Z-axis is the weak axis, analogous to the Eurocode (see below). In the check, all member forces are transformed to this coordinate system.

Deflection
- Check deflection - Setting whether the deflection has to be checked.
- Type - Type of structure. This determines the requirement for the additional deflection.
- Additional deflection - Requirement for the additional deflection.
- Final deflection - Requirement for the final deflection.
- Pre-camber - The size of the pre-camber in mm.
